Our September Community Working Bee, on Sunday, 28th September, 2014, will once again be in Furness Park, below Gardenia Street.
Planned activities: The original plan was to focus on weeding – but we’ve received a very welcome donation of a couple of hundred tube-stock seedlings from Whitehorse Council that need planting out before it gets too dry. So – all hands on deck please! Shhhh…. there is also a suggestion that there may be some payola for working bee attendees at this month’s exercise!
Clothing: We recommend sensible clothes for both the weather and the work – long sleeved shirts, long trousers, gloves, hats and work boots. You might also like to consider kneelers or knee pads.
Training/knowledge: None needed – experienced volunteers will be available to help in planting techniques and weed identification.
Tools: Tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own to make ours go further or to suit your working preferences. Useful tools are hoes, weed bins/buckets and garden gloves.
Refreshments: Although we provide both tea and coffee (and a bikkie if you work hard), you’ll need to bring your own drinking water or energy drink.
Car parking: There is limited car parking in Gardenia, Heath or Furness Streets reasonably convenient to the work site.
