We’ll be working again in Kalang Park off Pakenham Street on the south side of the creek on Thursday morning 08:30-11:30. We’ll be weeding in KP-17 building on the great work we did on 24/8. We also give the northern end of KP-24 a once over to wrap up the last CWB work.

Conditions (last updated 17:30 30/8/2023)
The weather tomorrow morning (Thursday) is not looking so good now – the rain is predicted to make an earlier appearance than in yesterday’s forecast:
- Rain: There’s a 10% chance of rain early increasing to 50% by 10 o’clock.
- Temperature: It should be mild in the morning – ranging from 10-13 degrees while we are working.
- Wind: There will be mild NNW winds initially which will gain strength to medium and move around to the west by lunch time.
- UV: The sky should be overcast – so the UV ranging up to a possible 2.5 should not bother us.
- Air Quality: Air Quality should be good.
- Warnings: There are no warnings that affect us.
Risks to highlight
- Bring water to maintain your hydration.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves, closed-toe shoes – and a raincoat !
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended especially near the track. The main east-west track is used by many cyclists – some of whom ride too fast. Take care to look both ways before crossing the path eg to dump weeds.
- There are stumps, branches etc that may present trip and eye hazards.
- COVID, flu and RSV are still up there. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms.
- No bull-ant incidents there so far – but please be vigilant!
Work Times
We work from 08:30-11:30 but shorter contributions are most welcome. We usually break for morning tea at about 10:00. Note that morning tea is self-catered, ie BYO. However, some team members might contribute home-cooked delicacies from time to time…
Parking
There should be parking nearby in the car park adjacent the Bowls Club (beware of the school rush 08:50-09:10).
Notification
Please let us know if you are planning to come. This helps us organise our supplies and ensures you will be notified of cancellation or other changes eg due to an extreme weather event.
Apologies
Both Nicolas – Nic and Nicky – have nicked off ! – both are apologies for tomorrow. Megan and Ruth are also unavailable.
Thanks
Congratulations to Megan on leading a very successful Community Working Bee last Sunday (27/8) replete with Wattle education. A good turn-out of folks with our Thursday group very strongly represented. Particularly good to catch up with old friends Tom and Kath after a long break. Also, fantastic to have Marlene back in town!
Thanks to everyone who turned up for your support tackling a site that certainly had its challenges. It was interesting too that several people turned up for the talk itself. Clearly, education by doing is only one of the possibilities!
