Our plan for Thursday morning of 5th October is to weed out KP-9 below Waratah Crescent. Lots of weeds there and small good-guys to protect – Angled Onion, invading Wandering Trad etc.

Conditions (last updated at 6:00PM, 4/10/2023)
- Rain: There’s a 10% chance of rain while we are working.
- Storms: None predicted.
- Wind: Medium strength WSW and SW winds.
- Temperature: It should be a coolish 9-13 degrees while we are working – but may feel a bit cooler due to the winds.
- UV: The sky should be partly cloudy – but the UV potentially ranging up to a possible 4 or 5 means we need our sun protection.
- EPA Air Quality: Good.
- Warnings: Nothing in our area.
Risks to highlight
- Bring water to maintain your hydration.
- Mozzies are about in shaded spots and still- ish air – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended especially near the east-west track. Take care when crossing the path to dump weeds etc.
- There are stumps, branches, lumps etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- COVID, flu and RSV are still around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms.
- We have had bull-ant incidents in KP-9 last year and the ants are becoming more active – so please be vigilant! Let me know if you see any – we’ll try to fence off dangerous areas.
Work Times
We work from 08:30-11:30 but shorter contributions are most welcome. We usually break for morning tea at about 10:00. Note that morning tea is self-catered, ie BYO. However, some team members might contribute home-cooked delicacies from time to time…
Parking
There should be parking nearby at the end of Waratah Crescent.
Notification
Please let us know if you are planning to come. This helps us organise our supplies and ensures you will be notified of cancellation or other changes eg due to an extreme weather event.
Apologies
Mark W, Ruby, Nic, Marlene, Graeme and Megan are unavailable this week. Kath has slightly delayed her return to full-time employment – so she’s giving us another working bee! Peter, John D, Julie, Andy and Nicky all coming! See you there…
