Thursday Team Plan – 7/3/2024

The plan for this coming Thursday morning is to weed between the path and the creek north of the oval starting on the eastern side and moving west. We’ll work 08:30 – 11:30 or any time between.

Last Working Bee

Last week we were at the top NE corner of Furness Park where we weeded most of the patch after enjoying another sumptuous morning tea courtesy of Julie and Peter. Only a maintenance weed was needed there – more or less what we have to do in Kalang at our next working bee.

Risks to highlight

  • Please bring water to maintain your hydration – especially given the predicted heat.
  • Don’t forget your sun protection (especially for the next few months!). We have some in the PPE kit if you forget.
  • Mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – plenty around due to recent rain – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
  • Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – especially along the main track. Be extra careful when crossing the track – there are many “commuter” bike riders some moving at speed on the main track.
  • There are stumps, branches, lumps and bumps etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • COVID is still around Please don’t come if you have any COVID symptoms.
  • Bull-ant bites have not been recorded in the area – though please be vigilant nevertheless.
