Thursday Team Plan – 4/4/2024

The plan for this coming Thursday morning is to continue on from last week’s start on KP-24 and finish off anything in KP-17 we missed.

We’ll set up camp near the red – and finish off along the northern boundary of the car park and then get stuck into KP-24 working from the top southwards :

Should be plenty of parking adjacent the Bowls Club – as long as you miss the school rush. We’ll work 08:30 – 11:30 or any time between.

Last Working Bee

Last week, we got a lot done in KP-17 including making a start on a large patch of Wandering Trad. We left about 2/3 of it but will take another third on two later visits – hopefully getting rid of most of it. We separated the zone from where it had crept up the creek bank too.

We made a reasonable start in KP-24 at the northern end – but didn’t get that far due to time and people constraints.

Conditions

(last updated 07:00 4/4/2024)

We’ve had some good steady rain over the past couple of days to soften up our weeds !

Rain:  It will be partly cloudy with a ZERO chance of rain all day.
Storms/Weather warnings: None.
Temperature: It should be a cool 10-17 degrees while we work.

Heatwave: None.

Wind: very mild strength ESE are expected.
UV:  It will be overcast with UV rating >3 reaching 5 later if the sun gets through.
EPA Air Quality: Good.

Risks to highlight

  • Please bring water to maintain your hydration – especially given the predicted heat.
  • Don’t forget your sun protection (still getting up to 7 later in the day!). We have some in the PPE kit if you forget.
  • Mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – plenty around due to recent rain – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
  • Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – especially working along the main track. Please be extra vigilant when crossing the track to dump weeds.
  • There are stumps, branches, lumps and bumps etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • COVID is still around Please don’t come if you have any COVID symptoms.
  • Bull-ant bites have not been recorded in the area – though please be vigilant nevertheless.
  • New risk – asbestos cement sheet fragments have been found in KP-17. Please don’t handle it if found – we report to Council for professional removal.
