Thursday Team Plan – 11/4/2024

The plan for this coming Thursday morning is to tackle BW-35 (on the northern side of the Blacks Walk bridge), then BW-27 and BW-33 in Blacks Walk. There’s a fair bit of work at BW-35 though BW-27/BW-33 just need a maintenance walk-through/light weed. So we’ll start in BW-35 and then head northwards through BW-27 visiting BW-33 on the way.

We’ll set up camp near the red X – and finish off northwards as far as we can go depending on numbers:

Should be plenty of parking in the Garie Street car park – school holidays are still going!

Last Working Bee

Last week, we got most of KP-24 done (not quite all – but great progress) – we’ll start at the southern end next time and should get the lot done ! No more asbestos found thank goodness.

Conditions

(last updated 06:10 11/4/2024)

We’ve had some more great rain over the past couple of days to completely soften up our weeds !

Rain:  There’s a 20% chance of rain falling to 10% – so a smart idea to bring wet weather gear.
Storms/Weather warnings: TBA.
Temperature: It should be a mild 13-17 degrees while we work.

Heatwave: None.

Wind: mild strength S and SSW winds are expected.
UV:  It will be overcast with UV rating of 4 if the sun ever gets through.
EPA Air Quality: GOOD.

Risks to highlight

  • Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
  • Don’t forget your sun protection. We have some in the PPE kit if you forget.
  • Mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – plenty around due to recent rain – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
  • Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended.
  • There are stumps, branches, lumps and bumps etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • COVID is still around Please don’t come if you have any COVID symptoms.
  • Bull-ant bites have not been recorded in the area – though please be vigilant nevertheless.
