The plan for this coming Thursday morning is to revisit KP-18 the Billabong.
We visited there about a month ago when that very pongey mulch was laid near our work-site – but only had a few working that day. In the meantime the buttercup has gone nuts befouling the input area, making forays into the grassed area and covering the area where the billabong ponds meet under the path.
In terms of other weeds, Cock’s Foot and some NightShade etc, Kikuyu has managed to jump Peter’s control line in a couple of places.
I should be back in the saddle on Thursday – thanks to Megan and Graeme for filling in for me last week.
We’ll set up camp near the red X:

There’s usually some parking available at the sports pavilion car park in Kalang Street or plenty adjacent the Bowls Club.
Last Working Bee
Last week the team did a good job in BW 7 and 8 and noticing the possibility of a recent spray in BW-36 – so a foray was made into KP-17.

Risks to highlight
- Even though it hasn’t rained for a while, some of the areas remain boggy. Gumbies may be needed to tackle some of the buttercup infestations in the damper spots. No need to bring unless you are enthusiastic for an in-depth experience!
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- A few mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – bikes do tend to zip through that area. Be extra careful when on or crossing the track.
- There are stumps, branches, lumps and bumps etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- COVID etc are still around. Please don’t come if you have any COVID of flu symptoms.
- No bull-ant bites have been recorded in the area – but please be vigilant!
