Thursday Team Plan for 16/5/2024

The plan for this coming Thursday morning is to visit FP-9 in Furness Park to do some catch-up weeding and (all going well) some in-fill planting.

There’s usually some parking available at the end of Gardenia Street or Furness Street (off Blackburn Rd) or over on Heath Street.

Last Working Bee

Last week the team did a good job in the Billabong area – making a good start around the water inlet particularly targetting the invasive buttercup in the main pond and creeping up onto the grassed areas.

We beat the recent rains so didn’t need to don the waders or gumbies!

We’ll need to return there and do some more in the near future.

Risks to highlight

  • Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
  • A few mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
  • Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – bike riders could lose control coming down the slope from Gardenia Street to the creek. Be extra careful when on or crossing the track.
  • There are stumps, branches, holes, lumps and bumps etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • COVID etc are still around Please don’t come if you have any COVID or flu symptoms.
  • No bull-ant bites have been recorded in the area – but please be vigilant!

Any problems – contact John on 0411 14 2731.
