The numbers at the Community Working Bee on 2/6 did not warrant splitting the group into the site at KP-8 for in-fill planting. Therefore, we’ll do that work at this Thursday’s working bee with the plants reserved for that purpose.
Assuming we have the numbers, we’d like to also weed out the patch we’ve been looking after in KP-5 once the in-fill planting in KP-8 is complete.
We’ll plant at the blue X and weed at the red X:

There’s usually some parking available at the park ends of both Laurel Grove North and South.
Last Working Bee
Last week we enjoyed weeding around existing young plants in KP-8 . This was to make it easier to plant into the area should we need an overflow site in the event that too many volunteers turn up for the CWB.

Risks to highlight
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- A few mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – bike riders along the main track may be travelling at speed. Be extra careful when on or crossing the track.
- There are a few trenches and twiggy plants etc to weed under that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- COVID etc are still around. Please don’t come if you have any COVID or flu symptoms.
- Bull-ants have been recorded in the KP-8 area some time ago – no sign last week but please be vigilant!
