The KP-3 zone has rather a long tail to the east which we’ve overlooked somewhat. The plan for Thursday, 13/6/2024 is to weed the tail out from the boundary of last year’s plantings to KP-3’s eastern limit. We’ll weed what we can do efficiently without too much disturbance – then mulch any bare areas with a thinnish layer of euc leaf litter as per George Paras’ recommendations.
The working bee runs from 08:30 – 11:30 (08:00 – 12:00 with set-up and pack-up).

We’ll meet at the red X below:

NB: No access from Boongarry Ave!
There’s usually some parking available at the park ends of both Laurel Grove North and South.
Last Working Bee
Last week we enjoyed doing some in-fill planting and weeding in KP-8 and then moved on to weed “our” plot in KP-3. About 30 plants went in.
Oddly, it turned out to be a “men-only” session with several of our regulars unavailable.

Risks to highlight
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- A few mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – bike riders are also taking the north track following Council’s clearing overhead branches further down the track. Be extra careful when on or if crossing the track.
- There are a few trenches and twiggy plants etc to weed under that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- COVID etc are still around. Please don’t come if you have any COVID or flu symptoms.
- Bull-ants have not been recorded in the area – but still worth being vigilant!
- Creek is up – so water gathering may be more hazarous than usual.
