The KP-9 needs a good weed before the Fumitory and Angled Onions flower. We’ll also have a go at a further incremental roll-back of the trad there for eventual planting up. We’ll assess whether we need to perform another sheet mulch (not this week) to keep the trad at bay.
We’ll mulch any bare areas with a thinnish layer of euc leaf litter as per George Paras’ recommendations.
We also be in a position to celebrate the replacement seat – our thanks to Megan for organising that with Grant & co !
The working bee runs from 08:30 – 11:30 (08:00 – 12:00 with set-up and pack-up).
We’ll meet at the red X below:

There’s usually some parking available in Waratah Crescent.
Last Working Bee
Despite the weather not being as good as predicted (drizzly), we had good attendance and the weeding and leaf-litter work went quite well. A small amount of in-fill plants (~20 plants) were also put in.
We had two unusual team members this morning – Richard Welch and his assistant Tom Burgess. Richard is currently a member of the Victorian Legislative Council for the North-Eastern Metropolitan Region. He and Tom were originally planning to come along to our community working bee on 2/6 but had to pull out – so turned up today instead. They both actually worked for a couple of hours and left after morning tea for another engagement.
Not so sure they’ll be back this week!

Risks to highlight
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- A few mozzies are about in shaded spots and still-ish air – best to have bare skin protected. We have repellent available in the PPE bag.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – including a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – bike riders are also taking the north track following the Council pruning.
- There are branches/logs/holes hidden in the trad presenting trip hazards – go slowly !
- There are a few trenches and twiggy plants etc to weed under that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- COVID etc are still around. Please don’t come if you have any COVID or flu symptoms.
- Bull-ants have been recorded in the area – very much worth being vigilant!
