We’re revisiting the plan for last week excepting the late start – comparatively balmy weather expected this week! Sorry about the sudden cancellation due to my food poisoning – I hope no-one was unduly inconvenienced other than Andy.

The plan for this coming Thursday morning is to weed KP-17 – around the good plants for follow-up by Dutch Hoers and/or Council spraying as needed.
Should be plenty of parking adjacent the Bowls Club – as long as you miss the school rush. We’ll work 08:30 – 11:30 or any time between as usual.
Last Working Bee
Last week, we had to cancel due to my unexpected illness. Graeme (my usual back-up man) was not available either – so there was not much choice given the short notice.
The week before, we did a great job weeding around the noticeboard area in case extra planting space was needed at the following Sunday’s National Tree Day working bee. It was needed – it was good to be ready for that!
Conditions
(last updated 06:20 8/8/2024)
Rain: It will be partly sunny with a 5% chance of rain this Thursday morning. Possible rain overnight.
Storms/Weather warnings: None for us.
Temperature: It should be a relatively cool 10-12 degrees while we work. The “feels like” will be a few degrees lower due to the wind.
Wind: mild-medium strength northerlies are expected (we’ll be sheltered from them though).
UV: It will be partly overcast with UV rating of 1 becoming 2 later – assuming the sun gets through the cloud.
EPA Air Quality: Good.
Risks to highlight
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – particularly when working along the main track (bikes being the biggest problem).
- There are stumps, branches, lumps and underground water courses etc that may present trip hazards and eye-hazards under twiggy shrubs etc. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- COVID, flu and RSV are still around again in a fairly big way it seems. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
- Bull-ant bites have not been recorded here – please be vigilant in any case.
