This week, we are back to Furness Park in the top NE corner. This is one where the thistles etc have gone completely berserk given the favourable conditions. We need to get them out before the seed ripens.

There should be plenty of parking available in the carpark adjacent at the end of Gardenia of Furness Streets.
Last Working Bee
On last Thursday (10/10), we had a second crack at the plot just south and west of the Laurel Grove bridge. We didn’t quite finish it off – but excellent progress was made.
Thanks to Cath who found the mallet I’d left in the thick of things.

Risks to highlight
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- The epidemic thunderstorm asthma forecast will operate during grass pollen season (01 October to 31 December).
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – especially as we’ll be working off the main track which carries a lot of cyclists. Please be extra careful crossing the track with your weed buckets.
- There are a few stumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
- COVID, flu and RSV are still around again in a fairly big way it seems. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
- European wasps have been recorded along the northern boundary. No bull-ant activity is on record – but please be vigilant.
