Thursday Team Plan for 14/11/2024

This week, we are continuing weeding in Blacks Walk in BW-27 and BW-33 – we’ll start at BW-33 and move south along the track. BW-33 is the little island bed we’ve been recovering. There is a large tree down in BW-27- so we’ll see if anything can be saved/cleaned-up as we go. Meet where the informal track heads off to the junction of the creeks. With any luck, we’ll be able to also weed BW-35 just north of the bridge too (see below).

Meet at the red X:

Last Working Bee

On last Thursday (7/11), we got a lot done in BW-27 (northern end). Some great plants in there now kicking on well and with weeding easier. Nevertheless, the team put in a big effort generating a very impressive mound of weeds.

Risks to highlight

  • Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
  • The epidemic thunderstorm asthma forecast will operate during grass pollen season (01 October to 31 December).
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
    • Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended.
  • There are a few stumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
  • COVID, flu and RSV are still around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
  • Despite no bull-ant activity being on record in BW-27, I was stung 6 times! So, please be vigilant – especially given that the weather is warming up ….
