Thursday Team Plan for 28/11/2024

This week, Megan will be our Team Leader because John M needs dental treatment – had to take an appointment clashing with the working bee. Because of equipment delivery-to-site issues, we’ll work at the Billabong – nearest site to the tools store (which is at the near end of the Kalang Oval pavilion). A subset of our normal equipment will be delivered by wheelbarrow – Megan could use some assistance with that (she’ll be at the Pavilion by 08:30). John M hopes to be back in time to help cart the stuff back to the cage.

Last Working Bee

Despite the heatwave starting that morning, most of BW-8 weeded – a great effort by the team.  BW-7 and BW-1 were lightly weeded.  A problem tree in BW-7 looked into by Graeme and John M  was reported to Council.

Conditions

(last updated 06:30 28/11/2024)

Thursday will be partly sunny with the possibility of rain. A little cooler than today.

Rain:  There’s a 20% chance of rain when we’ll be working.
Storms/Weather warnings: Nothing which affects us.
Temperature: It should be a warmish 17-22 degrees while we work.

Thunderstorm Asthma: Minor risk (dropping from “moderate” on 27/11).

Wind:  low strength SW to SSW winds while we work.
UV:  up to 7+, so sun protection is a must. Cloud cover will be 45-40% while we work.
EPA Air Quality: Good.

Risks to highlight

  • Please bring water to maintain your hydration..
  • The epidemic thunderstorm asthma forecast will operate during grass pollen season (01 October to 31 December).
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
    • Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended.
  • There are a few stumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
  • COVID, flu and RSV are still around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
  • Andy remembers bull-ant activity at the site to the creek side of the Billabong seat in a log. So please watch out! ….
