To tickle the prickles in KP-24 (adjacent the bowls club carpark) is our main focus for the 12/12/2024 working bee. There is some really good news in the eastern patch following our earlier work there – the grasses are booming. However, there is quite a deal of Prickly Lettuce that needs to be weeded out – as well as thriving Milk Thistles here and there as well. Hand-weeding will work best there – though Karen Mudge has offered to follow up with a spray if needed.
Last Working Bee
Our last “working bee” was very successful on such a pleasant morning. Thanks to all who could make it and help make the event such a success !

Risks to highlight
- Bull-ants are active at the site – so please watch out! …. We’ll fence off the nest area.
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration..
- The epidemic thunderstorm asthma forecast will operate during grass pollen season (01 October to 31 December).
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- Hi-vis clothes/vests are recommended – part of our work will be adjacent to the main track.
- There are a few stumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
- COVID, flu and RSV are still around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
