For Thursday 6/2, we’ll spend another morning in Furness Park FP-15 – between the track and the top of the creekbank. The strip needs further maintenance weeding and maybe rolling back the trad. Cath may start the direct-sowing experiment too.
Good news on Air Pollution as at 06:20 6/2/2025…

Readings did reach “Poor” overnight but are back to our normal “Good” now.

Last Working Bee
We made excellent progress last week restoring order to FP-15 thanks to a great day for working and a record turn-out (as many as we got for the coffee and cake celebration before Christmas!).
John D did a great job removing a Dietes grandiflora which was hiding in plain sight amid some fallen timber. Dietes sps are African irises that do rather too well in our environment and are often garden escapees.
The amount of dumping in the park we saw is disappointing – hopefully our new neighbours will become good friends of the park once they settle in.

- Bull-ants are not recorded at the site – but please watch out! …..
- Please bring water to maintain your hydration.
- Hi-vis PPE is recommended due to the popularity of the path to Gardenia Street.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- There are a few stumps, bumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
- COVID and flu might STILL be around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
