Thursday Team, 21/8/2025

For Thursday 21/8, we’ll be back in Kalang Park’s KP-24 moving south from the path. Meet at the Red X please. There are some very good plants going well in there – though under threat from mounting weeds like thistles etc.

Be there or be square !

Last Working Bee

Last week, we did a good job working along the nearby southern boundary of KP-17 moving westwards. Quite a lot of Fumitory and friends went – though we only got about half way across the southern boundary with the grassed area (see green dots on the map above). Weeds were far worse on the western side though.

Conditions

(last updated 06:10 21/8/2025)

Thursday will be relatively warm – albeit after a quite cool and possibly frosty start! Just like last week only a tad warmer!

Rain:  There is a 5% chance or less of rain while we are working.
Storms/Weather warnings: There’s a frost warning active.
Temperature: It should be cold start, 6 (feels like 4) to 15 degrees while we work – some easily removable outer warm layers are recommended!

Wind:  mild strength NE winds turning around to NNE while we work.
UV:  SunSmart recommends protection from 11:20AM to 1:10PM.

Cloud cover: 0% all morning!.
EPA Air Quality: Good now – though fair between 01:00-2:00…

Risks to highlight

  • There is a Bull Ant site active in the area (see red dot on map). Please watch out! . We’ll fence that off as a precaution.
  • Please bring lots of water to maintain your hydration.
  • Trees have been dropping branches locally – seemingly more often than usual. Low winds today but be aware of your exposure.
  • Hi-vis PPE is strongly recommended due to our working on the main east-west track at the northern end.
  • Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
  • There are a few stumps, bumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
  • Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
  • COVID and flu might STILL be around – a lot of masks in the shops recently. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
