Main Street Closure
Council is planning to close Main Street between Canterbury Road and Linum Street to permit asphalt resurfacing (see the red shaded area on the map).
The blue shaded area shows similar work scheduled for Arna Street. The works will take place between 24th February and 1st March between 7AM and 5PM daily. The roads will be open at other times.
Two new flat-top speed humps will be installed in Main Street either side of the bridge to its north and south.
You may remember the advocacy for a zebra crossing in that general area. Committee was informed by Council about 12 months ago that Council will evaluate whether these treatments result in a safer, lower speed environment – and then determine whether a zebra crossing is needed.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works. The immediate area around the bridge will be unaffected by the works so pedestrian access from Furness to Kalang Parks will normally be open. There may be minor impacts when equipment is moved from one side of the bridge to the other.
