For Thursday 27/2, we’ll more maintenance weeding in Kalang Park’s KP-17. We’ll start around the Volunteers’ Plaque and extend the maintained area back another 2-3 metres while leaf mulching any bare patches (green arrow below). We’ll move eastwards where some healthy Panic Veldt patches have developed. As usual, we’ll try to be careful with the PV seed doing the snip-off trick first. Meet at the red-X conveniently located at the end of the car-park adjacent the Bowls Club for those driving.

Last Working Bee
Last week, we weeded and leaf-mulched our old project area near the Laurel Grove bridge (KP-8). A good turn-out again – with many hands making light work of things.
We welcomed new people Gemma (with Delldint) and Mathab who were quickly put to good use!.
A sign has been posted to warn off dumpers in Furness Park following our findings there a few weeks back.

Risks to highlight
- Please bring lots of water to maintain your hydration.
- Hi-vis PPE is recommended due to our working on the main east-west track.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- There are a few stumps, bumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- Please be mindful of the creek bank too – there are sudden drops on the northern side.
- Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
- COVID and flu might STILL be around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
