For Thursday 6/3, we’ll venture north of the creek into Kalang Park’s KP-9. This will involve a maintenance weed there and another round of trad pull-back – to the creek bank in some cases. We’ll weed the exposed ground before another round of sheet-mulching to get rid of the broken pieces of trad it’s hard not to leave behind. We were going to shift some sawn logs from a fallen tree further along to build some run-off deterrence into the future working bee site orange-hatched in KP-13 – and received permission on Monday. However, the Arb team cleared the logs away a little afterwards after leaving them lying around for weeks (doh!). Clearly, we have to quicker on the uptake!

Meet at the red-X. Limited parking in Waratah Crescent or Laurel Grove South.
Last Working Bee
Great work from many hands last week in the “plaque” area near the Bowls Club and heading eastwards. A very high quality result to my eyes…
Tom Brett rejoined us after several years’ absence. Great to welcome him back to meet many new faces.

Risks to highlight
- This is a bull-ant site – the nest location will be fenced off. Please be vigilant.
- For those rolling back the trad – please be aware of the creek-bank at all times to avoid going over backwards particularly!
- Please bring lots of water to maintain your hydration.
- Hi-vis PPE is recommended due to our working on the main east-west track.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the conditions – a hat, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
- There are a few stumps, bumps, branches etc that may present trip and/or eye hazards. We have some safety glasses in the PPE bag if you feel you need them.
- Please be mindful of the creek bank too – there are sudden drops on the northern side.
- Take care when carrying full weed buckets – that can be heavy work!
- COVID and flu might STILL be around. Please don’t come if you have any symptoms or are potentially contagious.
