The Main Street bridge opened on 4th February in line with Council’s revised completion promise that we reported in our January Newsletter.

Our photo shows some Blackburn 703 bus customers enjoying a faster ride home now that the detour is no longer necessary.
Unfortunately, our invitation to the ribbon-cutting and champagne opening must have been lost in the post!
Council advises that the temporary No Stopping signs and 2P signs in Heath Street will be removed early next week. There will also be some minor defect works done around the bridge over the next week or so, and revegetation works in autumn.
Council thanks everyone for our understanding and tolerance of the detours and disruption during the project.
A zebra crossing is being contemplated for the crossing at the southern end of the bridge. We’ll keep you updated on any developments with that welcome addition.
